Interesting technique and thank you for sharing and stimulating creative idea generation!

I do have the cards, and have enjoyed pulling self-relevant cards in idle moments … e.g., “Actual self- What is me, in the here and now,” “Ideal self – what I would like to be” and “Ought self – what I think I should be” …

When you segued into the the reactions to a product from the card 1 (=artist) and card 2 (= addict) perspective, it occurred to me that, in coaching, the client could express his/her reactions to a life event/adventure/roadblock/malaise:

How do you feel about this life event/adventure/roadblock/malaise?
How does the (card 1 = artist) feel about it
How does the (card 2 = addict) feel about it
Thanks again.

Thanks, Sharon. I got some good ideas from that. In fact, I tried to find out how much Iconocards cost and couldn’t find that. Then I clicked on “Buy now” and a pop up blocker (on my end) blocked it. Frustrating! Anyway, after your Atlanta trip, please E-mail me the cost. Thanks.

Hi Sharon,

Hope the trip to Atlanta went well and you are in your own bed.

Thanks for the interesting idea for using the cards – “good”/”bad” self to help myself and to gain different perceptions of a product at hand. Hmmm. Something to try!

Epilogue to the Creativity group – It went very well – chatty, well-articulated; bottom-line. I got the info.

The Iconicards worked well; respondents could explain their relationship to their creative selves quite a) easily and b) profoundly having “their” card wth them. Risky, Passionate, Attraction to the Piece/Form, Connecting/Aggregating Ideas, Problem-solving, Collaborative/Social, Innovative, Political, Magical are a few of respondents’ relationship with creativity. I don’t think I would have gotten such a broad array of perspectives if I hadn’t used Iconicards.

Thanks for being there for me!
Hugs,
Leda

Sharon,
The others expressed thoughts about the content so I won’t repeat there thoughts here.
My comment is about the presentation.
When doing your filming, it would be very helpful for me if you would increase the volume on whatever you’re doing the recording on. As you get further into your presentation, your voice becomes harder and harder to hear — and therefore to understand and to follow.
This is the second video of yours that is like this.
I watch numbers of videos without having to adjust the volume on my computer, but even with my volume turned up high, your voice still just fades away.
This makes it difficult to understand what you’re trying to get across.
My suggestion: please record louder.

Hola Sharon,

I used the iconicards doing IDIs recently to dig deep into each respondent’s (acculturated Hispanic)lifestyle. It really helped to ask respondents to use words to describe the card. It was amazing how well the words described their lifestyle.

I did observe that the respondents really focused on the name on each card (addict, clown, etc.) vs. the image. Which made me wonder how well this would work with Spanish dominant respondents who won’t be able to read the names. Do you know how well it works with this group?

What adjustments would you make in a focus group setting? It seems like it would take too long to have each person select a card, describe with words, etc.

Un abrazo fuerte!
